Love 15 Blog

I did Love 15 today...

I just wanted to share the story below with you. I think Love 15 is a fantastic idea - if we all did it on a regular basis the world would be such a different place!

Today at work my friend and I brought in cakes and snacks that we had baked and asked everyone who ate something to put some money into a pot for charity.

I spent nearly a whole day baking food for this, but it was great to learn how to bake biscuits, and the edible glitter I put on them looked fantastic!!!

But what was even better was when I found we had raised £50 for charity!! It feels so good knowing I've raised this money just by baking a few biscuits and I can't wait for my next Love 15 mission!!

Great opportunity

I met up with a friend to give him some money I owed him. I had places to be and stuff to do but decided to ask him if he wanted to grab a coffee. We chatted for about 45mins and we covered some stuff that was obviously really important for him at that moment. What a great opportunity, so glad I took it.

Maltesers

When I was in R.S we had a competition to piece together the story of Budha's life. Me and my group managed to do it first so we won a bag of maltesers (my favorite by the way). I suggested to my group to share them out with the class and they agreed to do so. In the end everyone got a malteser.

Bus trip

Yesterday i had to stay on the bus for 6 extra stops to help a lady maneuver a buggy and all of children to their front door. I had a lovely conversation with her and she was so appreciative.

He's never asked before

I have known my local barber for around 25 years. I don't actually use him to cut my hair but have played tennis with him over the years and we have been quite competitive. Last week I saw him standing in his shop watching the world go by, as at that time he had no customers. I was on my way home when I decided to turn back and go to have a chat with him. We talked about his girls and my boys and spent around 20 minutes solving the worlds problems. As I was going he asked me about church! I explained to him about this amazing church I now went to in Norwich. Interestingly, he seemed to have heard of Proclaimers.

In the past 25 years he has never asked about church! This time he did.

Nothing really special here, except that just going out of my way to chat, hopefully opens up further opportunities with him.

Also, it's amazing the transformation that always seems to take place when you inconvenience yourself for another. It ends up not being an inconvenience at all!

On my lunch break

The Love15 idea is brilliant, but I did not know how I could get a chance to use it. I have worked with the same bunch of engineers for 15 years and we only do 'technical' talk. We never transgress into 'real world' discussions.

Anyway they guy I work most with was having a really bad day and in a really bad mood. He went off to lunch in a real huff. Came back about 20 mins later and I was busy eating my lunch and doing some important banking stuff. He sort of hung around behind me and I thought to myself 'Go away, this is really inconvenient....' DOH! Sometimes God is really un-subtle!

So I stopped my lunch and we talked about work, home, feelings and life in general (remember this is two blokes talking!) for 20 minuets and by the end of it he was in a much happier mood and managed to get back to fix the problem that was getting him wound up in the morning. Result.

Love 5 Seconds...

On Tuesday, I was forced to go along to orchestra (again), but this time I decided to make an effort.

While getting a stand and a chair, I saw a small, shy, quiet lookig year 7 struggling with his chair and his saxophone. It looked like it was his first time, and that he didn't know anyone. So, bieng the nice, friendly person I am, I helped him with his chair.

However, he thought that I was one of those mean, I-feel-like-hitting-you-in-the-face-right-now type of year 10's, so in his eyes I just stole his chair for my own. he then went back, took another chair, and went off to where he needed to be...leeving me standing there, with his 'stolen' chair...

nice one, scott...

thats my one which didn't go so well!

School never hears me out!

At school I was going to my next lesson when a deaf girl from my previous lesson didn't know where to go. I looked in hear planner at the timetable and it was maths.she said(roughly) that she didn't know where it was so I led here to the skinner center(where we have maths and science) and she thanked me so I had to go all the to the other side of school for my lesson, teck. I got a plannermark for being late a.k.a bad thing 5 planner marks in a week and you get a detention.

Moral of the story is that she got to her lesson I got a plannermark and missed about 10 minutes of teck yay!

Home Delivery Service

I knew a friend needed bread + milk for her family but she was unable to get to the shop herself that day. So picked the stuff up @ Tesco's + delivered to her door on my way to work. She + the kids were very grateful + it was such a simple thing to be able to do.

Struggling with an oven

Yesterday, I was in a rush to get somewhere when I saw a woman struggling with an oven. So I stopped rushing and went over to help her put it in her car. We had a nice chat and fit the oven in her car nicely.
